Wild Goose Chase

I've been reading this book called, "Wild Goose Chase," by Mark Batterson. I picked it up from my bro-in-laws office because it looked interesting. My time in Minnesota ended too fast and I never got a chance to read it. I was going to leave it behind but he told me to take it because it just might be what i need to read at just the right time. Boy was he right!! And I'm not even done with the book yet! Here are just a few of Mark Batterson's quotes that have resonated with me...

"Jesus didn't die to make us safe. He died to make us dangerous...when was the last time you asked Him to make you dangerous?"

"The soul lives by that which it loves." ~St John of the Cross

"When it comes to doing the will of God, God-ordained passions are far more important than any human qualification we can bring to the table."

"What passion of mine is God asking me to take responsibility for?"

"You never know how God ordained desires will be conceived."

"We take constants for granted and God is the ultimate constant."

"In fact, spiritual maturity has less to do with long-range visions than it does with moment-by-moment sensitivity to the promptings of the Holy Spirit."

"The only way to discover a new identity is to lay down an old one." Ex- moses laying down his staff at the burning bush.

"Logic questions God. Faith questions assumptions. And at the end of the day, faith is trusting God more than you trust your own assumptions."

I'm Back

I just got back from visiting my sister, sam and new niece Abby! I had sooooo much fun and it was very difficult coming back to VA. I had not seen them all since before Sarah got pregnant and it was so refreshing hugging them all. It's amazing to me how fast you can fall in love with a new baby. She has the most amazing faces and I am looking forward to seeing her grow and become all that God has destined for her to be.

What's your move..playa!?!?! :)

Ever surprise yourself and do something you thought you'd NEVER be able to do?! The older I get the more I realize how many limitations I put on myself. For instance, I love music but I honestly never thought I was good at it. I had classical piano lessons growing up but I was the typical kid that resisted practicing. Needless to say not much stuck! As I went through college music still wasn't a huge piece of my life. I was always the one secretly singing into the radio antenna but I never thought I could really sing. I'm not sure where that notion came from other than the enemy who wants to kill our dreams. I was a senior in college and a group of people praying for me said that I would be traveling and doing music and that God was going to open up doors I had never thought possible. I cried when I heard it but still nothing came of it..that is until 3 years ago. I started singing on Friday nights at my church. The first time I heard myself sing in the mic I freaked out! But I continued to try and began to realize that God had a portion of Himself that He wanted to communicate through me. That is all I have ever truly desired anyway. So another first happened this past friday, February 20, 2009.. I lead worship and PLAYED THE KEYS!!!! Now I was super nervous because my house is usually the only audience that ever hears me play but God was gracious to me and I had an amazing team playing with me! It was a good start and I began realizing how many times all the little steps I had taken had prepared me for that moment. I remember the pilot from the Hudson River crash saying that all his training had prepared him for THAT MOMENT. And what an important moment it was!!! God really does pull the details of our lives together and He prepares us even when we don't realize we're being prepared! Step out in your giftings and be encouraged that nothing is impossible to him who believes!!! So I'll keep practicing and stepping out to play in front of people. What's your next move?!!!

A miracle is about to be born...

I am about to be an Aunt! Well, i am an aunt already to many dear friends! But my first biological niece is about to come into the picture! I can't tell you how excited i am. What a journey it has been for our family. I know Sarah and Sam have borne the difficulty personally but because we love them, we have as well. I will never forget when my mom came and told me that Pastor Alfred had prophesied over Sarah that she would have a baby within a year! After so many disappointments my spirit jumped within me. I instantly started crying because I knew that she would indeed have a baby. So here we are nine months later and we all are getting ready to welcome this child into the world! I'm not sure why there has been so much pain and delay in the promise. But I am so excited that God is a God of hope. Therein lies my peace. Hold onto to the promises of God for your life. He has not forgotten. Sarah and Sam went through 3 miscarriages and have been married 5 years. I myself am waiting on God to move in my own life. But there is a quote that encourages me. I'm not sure who it is by.. "All that I see teaches me to trust in all that I don't and is yet to come." HOLD ON...He who began a good work in you will complete it!!
